Michi-no-Eki Kitaura is located in Shimoaso Beach Resort “Hamayu-mura (Hamayu Village)”, that is along National Route 388 in the heart of the Nippo Kaigan Quasi-National Park—an area blessed with a natural environment.
Shimoaso Beach is the most beautiful marine spot in Kyushu! It holds the prestigious honor of being the only beach in Kyushu awarded the “Special Selection” (Tokusen) rank in “Japan’s 100 Best Swimming Beaches” (Kyaisuiyokujo 100-sen). Hamayu Village is a comprehensive leisure complex, featuring Restaurant Kaisen-kan, that offers savor fresh seafood caught in local waters, and various accommodations, including cabins and auto-camping sites, as well as a traditional salt field where visitors can observe salt-making.

Seafood products such as Himono (sun-dried fish), Agemi (fried fish cakes) and Surimi (minced fish paste) — all made with fresh local fish — are highly popular as souvenirs.
Restaurant Kaisen-kan


We offer a rich variety of dishes unique to Kitaura, a town proud of its beautiful sea. Our menu features fresh sashimi made from the morning’s local catch, seafood bowls (Kaisen-don), set meals focusingon local cuisine and seasonal course meals. Many visitors from afar to enjoy the meal surrounded by the beautiful panoramic views of Shimoaso Beach.
You can also savor our specialties like “Himuka Hon-Saba” (mackerel) and “Kitaura Nada-Aji” (horse mackerel) of Miyazaki’s premium brands, as well as a full-course spiny lobster meal when in season. This seafood restaurant offers the true taste of freshly caught Kitaura seafood, and all 54 seats provide a stunning, unobstructed view of the coastline.

Salt Field

Our salt is crafted using traditional methods with pure seawater of the Hyuga-nada Sea. Known as the “Tsuki-no-Shio” (Moon Salt) brand, it is available at the Michi-no-Eki Kitaura souvenir shop and others, and is a popular souvenir cherished both within and outside Miyazaki Prefecture.
